Van Gogh Sunflowers
We took a short break this week from our tree houses to start a two step sunflower painting and learn about our artist of the month Vincent Van Gogh.
The students painted their own sunflower(s) with tempera paint and next week we will blend soft pastel for backgrounds. (Thursday classes will be doing pumpkins instead of sunflowers as they have already completed this project.)
I am so proud of the students for working so diligently on their tree houses. As the year progresses it is important for them to be able to grow their "concentration endurance" - good art takes time and they've amazed me at their ability to really work hard and come back to a project again and again.
Next week is our catch up week and we will be putting together our portfolio for parents on conference night. I'm excited to see the kids faces when they look at their bundles of work from this quarter and see how much they've completed so far.
