First Grade Owl Weaving
I am SO PROUD of my first-grade students. This was a difficult project for them and most of them started out "not getting it" and struggling. They had to be patient while I helped other classmates-and they were! For an entire hour, we practiced weaving our owls and had to redo and redo until the process "clicked" for them. Some of those who mastered the technique quickly walked around and helped their classmates before finishing their own projects.
By the end of the class, every student understood the process and it was so fun for me to see them so proud of themselves and see their light bulb moments.
I think they all enjoyed it and I want to do more textile art with them-knitting and sewing and even embroidery. The concentration it takes is wonderful for their minds, and settling to their souls.
